Certainty & Safety - Words associated with activities that have had the fun considerably removed. Fun can be doing something that you have learned to do at an expressive or sub-conscious level. However, consider "enjoyment" to be a term that tends to fit these practiced or conditioned activities more suitably. "Fun" is usually a word that follows gaining reward to some capacity. Physical, psychological, emotional, & monetary gains are often triggers for the F-word. (Fun)
With any reward there is usually an element of risk involved that creates a risk/reward ratio. This risk & reward ratio can often serve as a forecast tool, or predictor of the fun-o-meter. There is an additional element of fun correlated to experiencing the unexpected which is often not calculated into the aforementioned ratio. This element of surprise, or awakening to the remotely anticipated, can generate probable cause for an increase in heart rate and blood flow. The blood flow partnered with any realized reward triggers the release of endorphins and an increase in the sensation of fun.
Even the anticipation of said reward can release these endorphins
and unlock the fun feelings (dopamine).
