Unknown to the owners, a backdoor had been added to their network and a hacker gang had been gathering data and files. A file had been detected on the network that had not been installed by the network admins. Before the revelation , 100 machines had this installed.
With the pandemic, many machines have been brought home and used on unsecure networks. This looks to be the case.
